A Fall Wedding in Vancouver
“As soon as my fiancé (now husband) and I picked a date for our wedding, I knew I wanted the theme to represent simple but classical elegance. Black and white with a touch of bling reminded me of Audrey Hepburn and her famous black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and I tried to keep that thought in mind as we pulled together the various decorations for the wedding. We added a touch of lavender - my husband’s favourite colour - to bring a bit of warmth to the theme. In keeping with classical elegance, my husband opted for a black suit with a bowtie and lavender pocket square, while I picked a sexy - yet elegant and almost demure - form-fitting dress. I wanted to walk down the aisle in a dress that was so different from anything else people have seen, but which was sophisticated and stylish. When we did our photos in and around Vancouver, I felt like we were a movie-star couple in our outfits! For the flowers, I couldn’t think of anything more elegant than white calla lilies, so we submerged calla lilies in water for the table centrepieces and topped them with a lavender floating candle. My bouquet was an arrangement of calla lilies and roses - again, simple but beautiful at the same time. I’m so delighted with how the entire evening turned out, and how my husband and I were able to bring our vision to life. The day was absolutely perfect!”
